The role:  

We are seeking a diligent and highly organized Accounts Payable Coordinator to support our finance team in Toronto. This 9-month contract role supports a temporary replacement and plays a critical part in ensuring timely and accurate processing of payments, vendor relations, and maintaining financial discipline in support of our agency’s operational and strategic goals. The right candidate brings strong attention to detail, a proactive and service-oriented mindset, and the ability to work collaboratively within a fast-paced professional services environment. 

Key Responsibilities 

Accounts Payable Operations 

  • Process invoices and supplier payments accurately and in a timely manner
  • Code invoices to appropriate cost centers and project codes
  • Work with internal team in preparing and finalizing Purchase Orders
  • Prepare and oversee weekly payment runs with our SSC and manage electronic transfers, and  wire transfers and reimbursement of employee expenses.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and financial policies
  • Work directly with our Shared Service Centre for all areas relating to Accounts Payable.
  • Provide Accounts Payable training to all new hires, including employee expenses, vendor onboarding, and use of Purchase Orders. 

Vendor & Stakeholder Management 

  • Manage vendor onboarding and documentation requirements
  • Respond to vendor inquiries and resolve discrepancies
  • Maintain organized records and documentation for audit purposes 

Reconciliation & Month-End Support 

  • Reconcile payable accounts and vendor statements
  • Responsible for preparing monthly standard journal entries and correcting ones throughout the month.
  • Assist with month-end closing tasks and tracking of vendor and employee expense accruals.
  • Support reporting needs for finance leadership 

Process Improvement & Collaboration 

  • Partner with internal teams to ensure accurate expense allocation
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and standardization
  • Support finance projects as needed 

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
  • 1–3 years of accounts payable, accounting, or finance experience
  • Comfort with accounting/ERP systems and MS Excel
  • Familiarity with Maconomy is an asset.
  • Strong accuracy, organization, and follow-through
  • Professional communication and ability to work collaboratively

In Ontario, the base salary for this position at the time of this posting is indicated below. This range reflects our broader group’s compensation framework across diverse agencies and disciplines. For this specific role at Burson, our offer will be determined within this range based on our internal benchmark, reflecting the specific market conditions for our discipline. Individual compensation varies based on job-related factors, including business needs, experience, level of responsibility and qualifications.​
