Compliance team:
We are looking for our next AML & Compliance Analyst to contribute strategically to strengthening Plata’s compliance framework by performing specialized technical analysis in AML/CFT/FPADM matters, and issuing well-founded and traceable determinations that directly impact risk management and institutional decision-making.
Challenges that await you:
- Transaction Monitoring Alert Analysis & Resolution
- Analyze transaction monitoring alerts and investigate unusual activity
- Assess deviations between expected transactional profiles and actual customer behavior.
- Document the rationale behind each decision (closure, escalation, or reporting).
- Determine whether cases qualify as suspicious or false positives.
- Escalate complex cases when the level of risk requires it.
- Sanctions & Watchlist Screening Analysis
- Analyze matches derived from screening against national and international lists (e.g., OFAC, United Nations, FinCEN, among others).
- Identify and document false positives with solid technical support.
- Escalate potential true matches in accordance with internal procedures.
- Ensure full traceability of the analysis performed.
- Regulatory Reporting Preparation & Review
- Participate in the preparation of regulatory reports (Suspicious Transactions, 24-hour reports, Relevant Transactions, Internal Concern Reports, International Funds Transfers, among others).
- Draft clear, structured, and well-supported technical narratives.
- Validate consistency between case analysis and reported information.
- Follow up on regulatory authority requests and support the Regulatory Liaison team.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory deadlines established by the CNBV.
- Risk Assessment & Transaction Profiling
- Identify atypical patterns or red flags using applicable typologies.
- Contribute to improving monitoring rules and parameters
- Support the enhancement of risk models and risk-based approaches
- Technical Documentation & Audit Support
- Perform analysis under auditable standards.
- Ensure all decisions are properly supported with sufficient evidence.
- Maintain organized and traceable documentation (physical and electronic).
- Participate in internal and external audits, as well as regulatory and business-driven reviews.
- Continuous Improvement & Compliance Framework Enhancement
- Identify improvement opportunities in existing processes and controls.
- Propose adjustments to monitoring rules and analytical criteria.
- Participate in updating AML/CFT and Compliance policies and procedures.
- Collaborate across the organization to strengthen controls.
- Support automation and optimization initiatives for monitoring systems.
- Technical Decision-Making & Escalation
- Provide well-founded technical recommendations.
- Support and defend decisions before the Communication and Control Committee or senior leadership when required.
- Act with independence and professional judgment.
- Take ownership of decisions within the scope of responsibility.
What makes you a great fit:
- Bachelor’s degree in Law, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related fields.
- 2–3 years of experience in regulated financial institutions.
- Advanced English (mandatory) – ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Proven experience in:
- Transaction monitoring
- Sanctions/watchlist screening
- Regulatory reporting
- KYC file review and analysis
- Documenting technical justifications for decisions
- Knowledge of AML/CFT regulations
