The Opportunity

Brunswick Group is seeking an Associate to join our Regulatory & Public Affairs practice, based in Delhi with the flexibility to spend time in Mumbai as needed. The ideal candidate will bring deep experience navigating government processes, strong understanding of how political and policy decisions are made, and a track record of advising senior stakeholders across complex issues.

 As an Associate, you will advise clients and drive execution across accounts, taking ownership of key workstreams and proactively developing strategic ideas. You will support clients across multiple sectors on campaign strategy, regulatory engagement, public affairs communications, and issues management, while building a strong internal network across offices and specialisms to collaborate, share expertise, and deliver high-quality work for internal and external use, alongside developing your external network.

About the Role

Client Contribution & Strategy

  • Serve as an adviser to clients on public affairs, regulatory, reputation, financial, and crisis matters across multiple industries.
  • Provide insight and counsel rooted in an understanding of India’s policymaking ecosystem, including how ministries, regulators, and political stakeholders operate.
  • Contribute to new business efforts by managing RFP responses, shaping proposals, and participating in pitch development.

Project Management & Team Leadership

  • Lead the development and quality control of key client documents including strategic memos, briefing materials, stakeholder maps, and recommendations.
  • Play an active role in drafting new business proposals and letters of engagement, including participating in pitch meetings.
  • Oversee research assignments, distilling large volumes of information into clear, concise, actionable insights.
  • Plan and execute client announcements, campaigns, and events, including:
    • Strategic communications plan development
    • Talking points, Q&As, media backgrounders, and rollout materials
    • Media engagement strategy and coordination
    • End‑to‑end event or announcement logistics
  • Mentor and manage junior team members; partner with Directors and Partners on day‑to‑day team and client workflow.

Stakeholder & Network Building

  • Foster a network of journalist and stakeholder contacts and relationships, proactively building a network to identify new business prospects and media contacts.

  • Deepen relationships within the policy, regulatory, and political community — including ministries, regulators, legislative offices, and think tanks — to maintain ongoing insight on emerging issues.
  • Proactively cultivate a network in Delhi to identify talent referrals, business development opportunities, and relevant external partners.

What We’re Looking For

  • 7–10+ years of experience in public affairs, government, policy, campaigns, or related advisory roles.
  • Demonstrated understanding of India’s political and regulatory decision‑making processes and how they impact corporations.
  • Experience operating in high‑performance, fast‑paced, entrepreneurial environments.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Project and/or program management experience
  • Strong team leadership and demonstrated commitment to mentoring junior colleagues.
  • Ability to think strategically, creatively, and analytically, with strong problem‑solving capability.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
  • High level of discretion and integrity when handling sensitive client matters.
  • Knowledge of India’s media landscape and experience handling media engagement.

Ideal Candidate

  • A rising strategic adviser with experience counseling clients, principals, or senior stakeholders on regulatory, political, or public affairs issues.
  • Brings strong, relevant networks across Delhi — including government ministries, regulatory bodies, political offices, consultancies, and campaign organizations.
  • Confident, polished communicator with high emotional intelligence and the ability to build trust quickly.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a collaborative working style.
  • Passion for developing talent and helping junior team members grow.
