About the role: What's in the Box

As a Software Engineer within the Food Systems Alliance in Supply Chain Management (SCM), you will be building and scaling the core systems that power HelloFresh’s global procurement process. You will contribute to the design and operation of distributed systems supporting automated demand forecasting and inventory replenishment across our global network, directly impacting our efficiency and sustainability. This platform uses modern technologies and data science to make crucial decisions about ingredient flow, ensuring high quality and optimal delivery for our customers. You will have a unique opportunity to grow your expertise in supply chain technology while collaborating with cross-functional product, data, and operations partners to solve complex, real-world problems.

What you’ll do: The Recipe

• Design and implement reliable, high-quality technical features for our core supply chain microservices and data pipelines.
• Collaborate closely with a cross-functional agile team, typically 6-8 people, to break down complex requirements and deliver robust solutions.
• Apply modern engineering practices like DevOps, Continuous Delivery, and cloud-native development to build resilient and observable services on a large scale.
• Contribute to the architectural discussions and technical roadmap for your team’s services, focusing on high availability and scalability.
• Work within a modern tech stack, applying strong proficiency in backend languages like Kotlin and leveraging tools such as Kafka, Kubernetes, and AWS.
• Debug and resolve issues in production systems, ensuring the stability and performance of services that handle large volumes of asynchronous data.

What you’ll bring: The Ingredients 

• Strong professional experience in software development with demonstrable problem-solving skills and proficiency in a backend language such as Kotlin or Java, familiarity with front-end technologies like Next.js/Redux is a plus.
• Practical experience in building, and operating microservices in a distributed system environment.
• Familiarity with modern technologies, including containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), stream processing (Kafka), and relational/document databases (e.g., PostgreSQL/MongoDB).
• A solid understanding of end-to-end development processes, including testing and continuous integration/delivery (CI/CD).
• An agile mindset and a dedication to cross-functional collaboration and knowledge sharing within your team.
• A passion for tackling complex technical challenges and a willingness to learn and grow within an autonomous, high-impact domain.
