Information about the position 

As Communications Manager for Press Office and Issues Management (maternity cover), you’ll be responsible for leading our global press office, handling all reactive issues and planning strategic responses to business critical topics across markets. The role will report to the Director of External Communications, and part of the Corporate Affairs function.

In this role, you’ll manage the global press office’s core operations and output, ensuring we quickly and effectively anticipate, mitigate, and respond to reputational risks and sensitive issues. You will also provide ongoing management to the Press Officer.

Alongside reactive communications, you’ll play a key role in planning strategic responses to business-critical issues and potential crises. You’ll prepare messaging and ensure our approach is consistent across all markets.To succeed in this, you’ll collaborate closely with internal partners including Legal, Policy, and Trust & Safety teams.

This role is critical to protecting Vinted’s reputation as we grow, navigate increasing attention, and lead conversations around the second-hand sector. You’ll be part of shaping how Vinted shows up in the world- especially when it matters most.

In this position, you’ll 

  • Lead the daily operations of Vinted’s global press office — responding effectively to a wide range of reactive issues (e.g. product concerns, media scrutiny, regulatory developments)
  • Work on strategic planning for emerging business issues and crises, collaborating cross-functionally with Legal, Policy, and Trust & Safety teams.
  • Play a role in tracking Vinted’s reputation across channels and providing responses where required. Collaborating with analytics teams to track and evaluate press coverage
  • Own our Q&A- preparing messaging for sensitive topics and ensuring consistency across markets
  • Support the wider communications team on events, executive briefings and visits, if required
  • Provide ongoing management and development support to the Press Officer

About you 

  • 6+ years in a press office environment (either in-house or agency)
  • A strategic operator who thrives on building effective press office systems and driving operational excellence
  • Solutions-oriented, proactive, and calm under pressure
  • Strong news judgement and deep experience preparing messaging for high-stakes or sensitive topics
  • Crisis planning experience, and experience with direct crisis comms scenarios.
  • Confident working cross-functionally and engaging with a range of stakeholders, including various seniority 
  • Proven experience managing media interviews and preparing spokespeople
  • Comfortable working in an international, fast-paced environment. With experience of working with media in different markets and languages.
  • Ideally, experience in management or people leadership
  • Ideally a background in tech or online environment.
  • Interest or knowledge of AI and potential applications in PR and communications.
