Job Description

The Director, Clinical Ultrasound Operations– Home Services is responsible for leading the successful delivery, adoption, and growth of ultrasound services across home-based and community care settings, including long-term care and home health environments.

This role combines clinical expertise, customer-facing leadership, operational execution, and training ownership to ensure consistent clinical quality and strong customer outcomes. The Director will lead customer onboarding and education, support internal workforce development, and build scalable processes that enable expansion across multiple regions.

This position operates within the Home Services organization and focuses on clinical service excellence, customer success, and operational scalability.

As part of our team, your core responsibilities will be:

  • Provide clinical leadership and operational oversight for ultrasound service delivery
  • Ensure image quality, protocol adherence, and consistency across sites
  • Support implementation and launch of new customer programs
  • Partner with leadership to optimize workflows and outcomes
  • Lead customer onboarding and training for new sites and clinical teams
  • Develop and deliver training programs focused on ultrasound workflows and best practices
  • Serve as a clinical partner to customers to support adoption and ongoing success
  • Identify training or workflow gaps and implement improvements
  • Build strong relationships with client leadership and clinical team
  • Develop onboarding and training programs for internal clinical team members
  • Ensure consistent clinical standards across regions
  • Provide coaching and mentorship to field-based staff
  • Support development of scalable training materials and competency frameworks
  • Recruit, hire, and mentor Clinical Program Managers and field-based staff
  • Build a scalable clinical team structure as the program expands
  • Establish performance expectations and quality standards
  • Foster a culture focused on quality, accountability, and customer partnership
  • Monitor program performance metrics and identify improvement opportunities
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to support service expansion
  • Develop repeatable operational processes that support scale

Qualifications

Baseline skills/experiences/attributes:

  • Must have at least (5) five years’ experience in diagnostic ultrasound with POCUSMarket Expertise, current ARDMS certified required (i.e. RDMS, RVT, and/or RDCS)
  • Experience training customers or clinical teams
  • Demonstrated leadership or people management experience
  • Excellent customer-facing communication and relationship-building skills
  • Strong business acumen and operational mindset
  • Ability and willingness to travel

Ideally, you also have these skills/experiences/attributes (but it’s ok if you don’t!):

  • Registered Nurse
  • Experience supporting multi-site or multi-state programs 
  • Experience in long-term care, home health, or community-based care
  • Customer success or implementation leadership experience
  • Experience building scalable training programs
  • Familiarity with remote interpretation workflows and distributed care models

Location

Butterfly offers a hybrid work model for most positions, with team members spending two or more days a week in the office. While flexibility is key, we value in-person connections that spark creativity and teamwork. Our offices are designed for collaboration, with comfortable workspaces, stocked kitchens, and opportunities to connect with peers.

This is a hybrid position that can be based in Burlington, MA or New York City, NY.

Compensation 

Our estimated salary for this role is around $225,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Actual pay is determined by multiple factors such as skills, qualifications, experience and market demand.
