Engineering Manager – Soho House Mumbai

Role Overview
The Engineering Manager will be responsible for overseeing all technical operations, maintenance, and engineering functions across Soho House Mumbai. This role ensures the smooth functioning of all building systems, guest areas, restaurants, back-of-house facilities, and staff areas, maintaining the highest standards of safety, compliance, and member experience.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering & Maintenance Operations

  • Lead and manage the day-to-day engineering and maintenance operations of the House.
  • Ensure all mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP), HVAC, kitchen equipment, and building systems operate efficiently.
  • Implement preventative maintenance schedules across all areas of the property.
  • Ensure prompt resolution of maintenance issues impacting members, guests, and staff.
  • Lead, train, and develop the engineering team to deliver high standards of service and technical support.
  • Create effective rotas to ensure adequate engineering coverage across all operational hours.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and proactive problem solving.
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory regulations, safety standards, and local authority requirements.
  • Maintain records of inspections, certifications, and service contracts.
  • Support fire safety procedures, emergency preparedness, and risk management protocols.
  • Monitor the condition of the building, plant equipment, and infrastructure to ensure longevity of assets.
  • Work closely with House operations teams to support restaurant, bar, club, and event operations.
  • Manage external vendors, contractors, and service providers.
  • Manage the engineering department budget, ensuring cost efficiency without compromising standards.
  • Oversee procurement of spare parts, equipment, and service contracts.
  • Support capital expenditure planning for repairs, upgrades, and renovations.
  • Ensure engineering standards support a seamless member and guest experience across all spaces.
  • Respond proactively to operational requirements during service periods, events, and peak hours.

Requirements

  • Minimum 7–10 years of engineering or facilities management experience, preferably within hospitality, hotels, or luxury clubs.
  • Strong knowledge of building systems, MEP, HVAC, kitchen equipment, and maintenance management.
  • Experience managing teams and external contractors.
  • Understanding of local safety regulations and statutory compliance.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a hands-on approach.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced hospitality environment.

Preferred Background

  • Experience in luxury hotels, private members’ clubs, or high-end restaurants.
  • Degree or diploma in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering or equivalent technical qualification.
