As an Environmental Coordinator, your key responsibility will be to coordinate and maintain Michels’ environmental program. This position will focus on proactive environmental compliance and risk management (e.g., air, water, waste, biodiversity) for Michels operations and our construction projects. You will review and prepare permits and compliance plans, collect and analyze multi-media sampling, perform environmental observations and audits, and track and manage regulatory reporting requirements.

  • Prepare, submit, and manage mining and construction-related permits, including zoning applications, mining permits, stormwater permits, and reclamation plans.
  • Act as the company’s liaison during inspections, audits, and public hearings.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation and records of all permits, approvals, and renewals.
  • Develop and implement strategies to ensure compliance with air quality, water management, reclamation, and other environmental standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What it takes:

  • Prefer Bachelor or Associate degree with emphasis in environmental studies, natural sciences, engineering, or related field. Advanced training or education in Environmental or Technical Field, with equivalent years may be acceptable
  • Knowledgeable with environmental compliance topics and applicable regulations, including but not limited to storm water best management, process water control, waste storage and disposal, general air compliance, and fuel storage
  • 1-5 years of environmental or related experience
  • Comfortable presenting technical subject matter, communicating effectively to different audience types
  • Preference with experience in ArcGIS
  • Travel 30% to 50% in Midwest US states
