About this role

About Anthropic

Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems.

About the role

We are seeking a versatile Finance Systems Program Manager to join our Finance Systems team at Anthropic. In this role, you will drive execution excellence across a diverse portfolio of finance technology and transformation initiatives based on the priority of roadmaps. You will partner closely with Finance Systems leads, functional business owners, and cross-functional teams to ensure initiatives are well-governed, on track, and delivering measurable business value.

This role requires someone who can context-switch across multiple finance domains, establish lightweight but effective program management practices, and thrive in a fast-paced environment where priorities evolve quickly. You will be instrumental in helping Anthropic scale its financial infrastructure from startup operations to enterprise-grade systems supporting $8B+ revenue, 20+ global entities, and public company readiness.

Responsibilities

  • Program Management: Manage a portfolio of 5-8 concurrent finance systems initiatives across multiple domains, ensuring clear prioritization, resource alignment, and delivery accountability

  • Governance & Process Design: Establish and maintain lightweight governance frameworks appropriate for a fast-paced, engineering-centric culture—including standardized project intake, status reporting, risk management, and decision escalation processes

  • Status Tracking & Reporting: Provide clear, consistent visibility into project health, milestones, dependencies, and risks through structured reporting to the Head of Finance Systems, functional leads, and Finance leadership

  • Cross-Functional Coordination: Lead cross-functional coordination across Finance Operations, Corporate Accounting, Tax, Treasury, FP&A, IT/BizTech, Data Infrastructure, and Engineering teams to drive alignment and remove blockers

  • ERP Transformation Support: Support ERP implementation workstreams by managing downstream impact assessments, integration testing coordination, and go-live readiness across affected finance systems and processes

  • SOX & Compliance Coordination: Partner with the SOX and Internal Audit teams to support IT General Controls (ITGC) documentation, control testing, and audit preparation across finance systems

  • Change Management: Drive user adoption for new systems and process changes through structured change management—including UAT coordination, training programs, communication plans, and post-go-live support

  • Vendor Management: Track and manage vendor delivery timelines, SOW commitments, and partner accountability across implementation and consulting engagements

  • AI Initiative Tracking: Coordinate AI automation initiatives within the finance portfolio, tracking progress on Claude-powered use cases and ensuring integration with broader systems roadmap

You may be a good fit if you:

  • Have 8+ years of experience in program management, project management, or PMO roles, with at least 3 years supporting finance or accounting technology initiatives

  • Have hands-on experience managing complex system implementations, integrations or migrations

  • Can manage multiple concurrent workstreams across different finance domains without losing sight of the details or the big picture

  • Are skilled at building trusted relationships with diverse stakeholders across Finance, Accounting, Tax, Treasury, IT, and Engineering teams

  • Have experience designing and implementing governance frameworks that provide accountability without excessive overhead—particularly in fast-paced, agile environments

  • Possess strong analytical skills and can synthesize complex project data into clear, executive-ready reporting

  • Are proficient with modern project management tools (Asana, Jira, or similar) and can quickly establish portfolio-level visibility and dashboards

  • Have excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex project information to both technical and non-technical audiences

  • Demonstrate strong problem-solving abilities and can navigate ambiguity while maintaining focus on delivery and deadlines

  • Are passionate about building scalable processes that support rapid organizational growth

Strong candidates may also have:

  • Experience supporting SOX compliance initiatives, ITGC documentation, or audit preparation in a pre-IPO or newly public company environment

  • Background in finance operations, corporate accounting, or FP&A with understanding of month-end close, financial reporting, and compliance workflows

  • Experience with P2P platforms (Zip, Coupa), expense management systems (Brex, Navan), or enterprise ERP platforms (Workday Financials, NetSuite)

  • Familiarity with lease accounting standards (ASC 842) and lease management system implementations

  • Experience with equity administration platforms and understanding of stock-based compensation accounting, equity plan administration, and related compliance requirements

  • Knowledge of global payroll operations and multi-entity compliance requirements

  • Experience with change management frameworks and methodologiesExperience working in high-growth technology companies that scaled from startup to public company operations

  • Interest in or experience with AI/LLM-powered automation and its application to finance processes

How we're different

We believe that the highest-impact AI research will be big science. At Anthropic we work as a single cohesive team on just a few large-scale research efforts. And we value impact — advancing our long-term goals of steerable, trustworthy AI — rather than work on smaller and more specific puzzles. We view AI research as an empirical science, which has as much in common with physics and biology as with traditional efforts in computer science. We're an extremely collaborative group, and we host frequent research discussions to ensure that we are pursuing the highest-impact work at any given time. As such, we greatly value communication skills.

The easiest way to understand our research directions is to read our recent research. This research continues many of the directions our team worked on prior to Anthropic, including: GPT-3, Circuit-Based Interpretability, Multimodal Neurons, Scaling Laws, AI & Compute, Concrete Problems in AI Safety, and Learning from Human Preferences.
