JOB SUMMARY
The Groundskeeper II is a skilled team member responsible for performing a wide range of grounds maintenance tasks with minimal supervision. The role demonstrates proficiency in equipment operation, attention to detail, and consistent production of high quality work. This role is expected to work independently on assigned tasks and also support team productivity.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
Core Grounds Maintenance (90%)
- Perform all routine grounds maintenance tasks including mowing, trimming, edging, blowing and debris removal
- Maintain landscape beds through weeding, mulching, planting, and general upkeep
- Safely operate basic grounds equipment after training, including but limited to:
- Push mowers, reel mowers, riding mowers, tractor pull behind mowers
- String trimmers, edgers, hedge trimmers, blowers, chainsaws
- Maintain cleanliness of sidewalks, walkways, parking areas, and common-use grounds
- Collect and dispose of green waste and litter in designated areas
- Complete assigned work efficiently and effectively with minimal supervision
- Identify and address detail work (missed edges, uneven cuts, debris, etc.) without direction
- Clean, wash, and refuel tools and equipment after use
- Report damage or unsafe equipment to Crew Lead and/or Supervisor
Team Support & Development (5%)
- Lead small tasks or areas as assigned, ensuring work meets expectations
- Serve as a positive example in work ethic, safety, and attention to detail
Safety, Training and Compliance (5%)
- Follow all safety procedures, PPE requirements and training protocols
- Attend required safety meetings and training sessions
- Report unsafe conditions, incidents, or hazards immediately
- Follow Hazard Communication (HazCom) and SDS procedures as trained
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or GED (or ability to obtain)
- Valid driver’s license or ability to obtain
- 3 or more years of grounds maintenance, landscaping or related experience
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Basic proficiency with common grounds equipment
Preferred (Not Required)
- Experience operating commercial-grade equipment safely and efficiently
- Experience leading small tasks, projects, or crews in the absence of a lead and/or supervisor
- Ability to maintain consistent quality across a large, complex work areas
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Ability to keep hand and arm steady while moving the arm or holding the arm and hand in one position.
- Ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust controls of machines, tools, or vehicles to exact positions.
- Ability to quickly move one or both hands, with or without arms, to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects.
- Ability to see details at close range
- Ability to exert muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects.
- Ability to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with the body, arms, and/or legs.
- Ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs independently
- Work is performed outdoors and involves regular exposure to varying weather conditions
- Required to wear common protective or safety equipment, which includes safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, hard hats, and protective jackets
- Additional responsibility for crew activities and promoting safe work practices
- Able to drive a side-by-side Utility Vehicle (UTV)
