Head of (m/f/d) Marketing Industrial IoT

About this role

Mission: Drive and scale a measurable, high-performing global demand generation engine across Europe and the United States. Own the full marketing operating system (performance, analytics, attribution, tooling, processes, and cadence), diversify marketing mix, optimize automation, and turn marketing into a predictable contributor to pipeline and revenue in a fast-paced tech scale-up environment. This role requires an office presence of 2-3 days per week in Munich.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

Global Digital & Performance Marketing Leadership

  • Develop and execute global digital marketing and demand generation strategies aligned with business growth objectives in US and EU markets.
  • Diversify marketing mix (earned, organic, paid) to increase buyer persona awareness, demand, and pipeline growth.
  • Support global campaign planning, multi-channel execution, and performance outcomes (including pipeline contribution, conversion rates, CAC efficiency, channel ROI).
  • Oversee website growth, conversion rate optimization, SEO performance, and digital foundations (e.g., landing pages, forms, funnel optimization).
  • Plan and own global events/webinars strategy (flagship + partner-led) as a key pipeline lever.
  • Partner closely with regional Sales, Marketing, Product, RevOps, and partners to drive revenue impact and alignment. 

Marketing Automation, Lifecycle & Demand Generation 

  • Own and continuously optimize marketing automation strategy, tools, processes, and lead lifecycle programs.
  • Drive continuous improvements to segmentation, personalization, lead scoring and qualification, and customer journey automation for improved lead generation and nurturing.
  • Drive repeatable campaign-to-follow-up execution and reactivation plays.
  • Explore and include AI marketing tools for greater operational efficiency. 

Marketing Operations, Attribution & Reporting (Marketing OS) 

  • Own the marketing tech stack, integrations (e.g., HubSpot + Salesforce/CRM), tracking standards (UTMs) and tools (Hotjar, GA4, GTM, GSC, Semrush), governance, and data hygiene/lead management.
  • Ensure attribution integrity, leadership-grade reporting (dashboards, weekly/monthly reviews, forecasting and quarterly OKRs), and visibility into marketing ROI.
  • Manage global marketing budget end-to-end (planning, allocation, forecasting, re-allocation based on performance).
  • Drive operational excellence, process standardization, compliance basics, and scalability by using for example AI marketing tools. 

Team Leadership & Operating Model 

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a distributed high-performing digital marketing team across Germany and United States, fostering collaboration, accountability, and clear ownership boundaries.
  • Ensure consistent global messaging, brand positioning, and campaign execution while enabling local market adaptations (especially US field execution).
  • Build and maintain a practical operating cadence: quarterly planning, monthly reviews, weekly rituals, prioritization, and cross-functional alignment.
  • Own transition/stabilization of critical systems (attribution, reporting, workflows, lead hygiene) post any leadership changes. 

YOUR PROFILE

  • 7+ years experience in B2B digital marketing, demand generation, performance marketing, and/or marketing automation in tech/SaaS/enterprise environments ideally in manufacturing or logistics.
  • Leadership experience managing and developing distributed teams in startup/scale-up settings, balancing strategy and execution.
  • Proven track record leading global or multi-regional (ideally US + EU) initiatives with measurable pipeline/revenue impact.
  • Strong hands-on experience in performance channels (paid media, CRO, lifecycle), marketing automation platforms (HubSpot preferred, Marketo/Pardot), and CRM (Salesforce). Experience in webflow or similar website tools would be a plus.
  • Deep expertise in marketing operations, attribution, reporting, data-driven optimization, and building scalable systems/processes.
  • Analytical mindset with proven ability to use data/KPIs for decisions, insights, and recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Experience with ABM strategies, events/webinars, content collaboration, product or partner marketing is a strong plus.
  • Highly collaborative, with excellent stakeholder management, intercultural communication, and ability to lead distributed/cross-functional teams.
  • Hands-on, execution-driven, comfortable in fast-paced, evolving environments, highlighting the different markets (EU & US).
  • Fluent in English; German is a strong plus.
