Who we are supporting
The NATO Communication and Information Agency (NCIA) is responsible for providing secure and effective communications and information technology (IT) services to NATO's member countries and its partners. The agency was established in 2012 and is headquartered in Brussels, Belgium.
The NCIA provides a wide range of services, including:
- Cyber Security: The NCIA provides advanced cybersecurity solutions to protect NATO's communication networks and information systems against cyber threats.
- Command and Control Systems: The NCIA develops and maintains the systems used by NATO's military commanders to plan and execute operations.
- Satellite Communications: The NCIA provides satellite communications services to enable secure and reliable communications between NATO forces.
- Electronic Warfare: The NCIA provides electronic warfare services to support NATO's mission to detect, deny, and defeat threats to its communication networks.
- Information Management: The NCIA manages NATO's information technology infrastructure, including its databases, applications, and servers.
Overall, the NCIA plays a critical role in ensuring the security and effectiveness of NATO's communication and information technology capabilities.

Assistance and Advisory Service (AAS)
The NATO Communications and Information Agency (NCI Agency) is NATO’s principal C3 capability deliverer and CIS service provider. It provides, maintains and defends the NATO enterprise-wide information technology infrastructure to enable Allies to consult together under Article IV, and, when required, stand together in the face of attack under Article V.
To provide these critical services, in the modern evolving dynamic environment the NCI Agency needs to build and maintain high performance-engaged workforce. The NCI Agency workforce strategically consists of three major categorise's: NATO International Civilians (NIC)'s, Military (Mil), and Interim Workforce Consultants (IWC)'s. The IWCs are a critical part of the overall NCI Agency workforce and make up approximately 15 percent of the total workforce.

Role Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides daily operation and maintenance of NISC IaaS Services.
- Support the Senior Technicians, Engineers and NISC IaaS SDMs in all activities in the areas of design, engineering, implementation, operation and integration of Infrastructure Hosting Services
- Administers and maintains virtual infrastructure
- Performs system administration for assigned systems.
- Supports the installation, management, and operation of common user services over the NATO networks.
- Monitor and perform daily physical check of datacenter HW and other equipment
- Replace failing parts in a timely manner
- Be aware of the implementation of physical security for IaaS data centers
- Follow change management process and update network topology diagram and CMDB after installing new or decommissioning old components at data center
- Perform troubleshoot on data center, identify issues and assist in timely resolution of same Maintain proper record of work operations, events
- Provides advises and support the IaaS SAO and SDMs on aspects related to the entire lifecycle of capabilities, services, projects;
- Contribute in maintaining close and coordinated operating ties with IaaS management to ensure a harmonized effort and synchronized effect for all activities;
- S/he will carefully monitor the compliance with SLAs;
- Support the development of processes, procedures (SOP) and Standard Operation Instructions (SOIs) for IaaS services;
- Identification operational problems and contribution to their resolution;
- Perform ad hoc tasks related to NISC SL's responsibilities;
- Performs other duties as may be required.
- Might need to work on scheduled maintenances, service-affecting activities and contingency work outside of regular business hours or being on-call after working hours on weekends
Essential Skills, Experience and Certifications
- Sound practical experience in the DataCenter concept, technologies, operations and standards including servers, storage devices, virtualization, and backup&restore of virtualized environment
- Hands-on experience with data center management focusing on virtualization using VMWare VSphere 7 and above, blade & rack mount servers
- Knowledge of VCF software
- Sound practical experience in SAN/NAS network fundamentals (TCP-IP, FC, FCoE, iSCSI, WWN, WWNP, LIFS) with SAN, Unified and NAS storages
- Sound knowledge of data center environments, servers, storages and other equipment and virtualization including data center cabling and infrastructure
- Experience in installing, monitoring, and maintaining data center equipment;
- Exceptional ability to work as part of a team, provide IT support, and resolve errors
- Ability to keep up with advancements in data center infrastructure and technologies;
- Proficiency in documenting current design & configuration and to develop/maintain Standard Operation Procedures/Instructions and training guidance
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Willingness to respond to server, storage and networking errors even after working hours
- Sound practical experience in Active Directory, Windows Server and Linux RedHat Plus)
- Experience in IT Asset and Configuration management
- Knowledge of automation techniques (e.g. VMware Aria, Ansible)
- Sound practical knowledge and experience of ITIL processes.
- Sound practical knowledge on IT security
Desirable Skills, Experience and Certifications
- Training and industry certification on virtualization e.g. VCP
- CompTIA ServerPlus, CompTIA Network, or CCNA certification would be advantageous;
- DataCenter certification;
- Experience from working in a service provisioning organization;
- Knowledge of NATO responsibilities and organization;
