IT Operations Specialist

sweetgreen · Los Angeles, CA

onsitefull-timemid level

About this role

sweetgreen is on a mission to build healthier communities by connecting people to real food. We passionately believe that real food should be convenient and accessible to everyone. Every day in each sweetgreen, our team members make food from scratch, using fresh ingredients and produce delivered that morning. And in our local communities, we're committed to leaving people better than we found them. We're in the business of feeding people, and we're out to change what that means. Our teams are our most valuable ingredient - the heart of our company, the face of our brand, and what truly makes the sweetgreen experience special and unique.

The IT Operations Specialist will serve as the steward of our core Identity and Access applications and custodian of our corporate office equipment and hardware — helping our corporate environments remain secure, reliable, and high-performing as we continue to shape the future of food. This role sits within the Platform Operations team under Foundational Technology and reports to the Sr Manager, Platform Operations.

You will:

  • Manage and coordinate User Identity & Access management across our SaaS applications using Microsoft Entra ID

  • Onboard applications into SSO and manage dynamic group rules

  • Create, develop, and implement a schedule for continuous patch management for corporate devices

  • Administer corporate Windows and Mac laptops, Google Meet/Chrome meeting room devices, and other relevant corporate hardware

  • Administer legal holds and the necessary documentation retention process

  • Automate manual processes wherever possible through scripting (e.g., Ansible, PowerShell, Terraform)

  • Conduct tech onboarding sessions for new corporate joiners

  • Partner with other engineering teams to maintain infrastructure as code (IaC) standards, ensuring consistent, automated, and secure deployment of IT and identity services

In-scope applications include:

  • Microsoft Entra ID

  • Google Workspace (Enterprise)

  • Microsoft Intune (Corporate Asset Management)

  • LogMeIn

  • ServiceNow — ITSM & CMDB modules

Desired traits:

  • A methodical operator who documents as they go and builds repeatable processes others can follow

  • A root-cause thinker who balances urgency with long-term fixes — you resolve the incident, then make sure it doesn't happen again

  • A clear communicator who works effectively across both technical and non-technical audiences

  • A collaborative teammate who is kind, accountable, and supportive — someone others rely on

  • A curious learner who experiments with AI/LLM capabilities to enhance and execute core responsibilities

  • A steady professional who prefers organized, proactive work over constant crisis management

Desired experience:

  • 2+ years of experience in IT operations, systems administration, or a related technical support role

  • Deep experience in Microsoft Entra ID for User Identity and Access management; relevant certifications preferred

  • Certification in Google Workspace Administrator Fundamentals or comprehensive working knowledge of Google Workspace

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft O365 administration

  • Strong ability to automate and scale solutions using scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or PowerShell

  • Working knowledge of REST APIs and workflow automation platforms like Workato

  • Experience managing and administering Windows and Mac laptops and corporate devices

  • Familiarity with ITIL service management practices

  • Project management and documentation experience using Atlassian Jira & Confluence

  • Ability to write clear Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Knowledge Base articles
