LTS is looking for a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team and support a program with ICE Detention Center – Contract Healthcare Provider.

Position Summary
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides direct nursing care to ICE detainees in a secure detention environment under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), Nurse Practitioner (NP), Physician Assistant (PA), or physician. The LPN performs nursing duties consistent with state licensure, ICE Performance-Based National Detention Standards (PBNDS), facility policies, and contractual obligations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Clinical Care

  • Provide direct nursing care to detainees within scope of licensure and under appropriate clinical supervision.
  • Carry out physician, NP, PA, and RN orders accurately and promptly.
  • Administer medications, including oral, injectable, and controlled substances, in accordance with licensure and pharmacy regulations.
  • Obtain and record vital signs, conduct focused assessments, and collect medical histories.
  • Assist with and perform approved nursing procedures and treatments.
  • Monitor detainees with chronic or acute medical conditions and report changes to supervising clinicians.
  • Respond to medical emergencies and provide basic life-support care consistent with training.
  • Document nursing care, medication administration, and treatments accurately and timely in detainee medical records.
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of detainee health information in compliance with HIPAA, ICE standards, and facility policies.
  • Communicate effectively with supervising clinicians, healthcare team members, custody staff, and detainees.
  • Comply with ICE PBNDS, nursing standards, facility policies, and contractual requirements.
  • Follow infection control, medication management, and safety protocols.
  • Report incidents, safety hazards, and unusual occurrences according to facility procedures.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety of medical equipment and treatment areas.
  • Work in a secure detention environment and comply with all facility security procedures.
  • Recognize that verbal abuse or resistance may occur and respond calmly and professionally.
  • Assist with prevention and de-escalation of potentially disruptive situations.
  • Remain alert and respond effectively in emergency and high-stress situations.

Qualifications

  • Current, unrestricted Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the state of practice.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of LPN experience; correctional, detention, emergency, or acute care experience strongly preferred.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Must be up to date with immunizations.
  • Ability to pass required background investigation, credentialing, and security clearance for ICE detention facilities.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and on-call assignments.

  • Work is performed in a secure ICE detention facility.
  • Exposure to communicable diseases and potentially volatile situations.
  • Physical demands include standing, walking, bending, lifting, and rapid response to emergencies.
