About this role

LTS is looking for a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) to join our team and support a program with ICE Detention Center – Contract Healthcare Provider.

Position Summary
The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) provides direct nursing care to ICE detainees in a secure detention environment under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), Nurse Practitioner (NP), Physician Assistant (PA), or physician. The LVN delivers nursing services in accordance with state licensure, ICE Performance-Based National Detention Standards (PBNDS), facility policies, and contractual requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Clinical Care
    • Provide direct nursing care to detainees within scope of licensure and under appropriate clinical supervision.
    • Execute physician, NP, PA, and RN orders accurately and in a timely manner.
    • Administer medications, including oral, injectable, and controlled substances, in accordance with licensure, pharmacy laws, and facility policies.
    • Measure and record vital signs, obtain medical histories, and perform focused nursing assessments.
    • Assist with and perform approved medical procedures and treatments as authorized by licensure and training.
    • Observe, assess, and document detainee behavior relevant to medical or mental health status.
    • Monitor detainees with acute illnesses or chronic medical conditions and promptly report changes to supervising clinicians.
    • Respond to medical emergencies and provide basic life-support interventions consistent with training and certification.
  • Documentation and Communication:
    • Accurately document nursing care, medication administration, and treatments in detainee medical records.
    • Maintain confidentiality and security of detainee medical information in compliance with HIPAA, ICE standards, and facility policies.
    • Communicate clearly and professionally with supervising clinicians, custody staff, detainees, and healthcare team members.
    • Adhere to ICE PBNDS, facility policies, nursing standards, and contractual requirements.
    • Follow infection control, medication management, and safety protocols.
    • Report safety concerns, incidents, and unusual occurrences according to facility procedures.
    • Ensure medical equipment and treatment areas are clean, safe, and properly maintained.
    • Perform duties in a secure detention environment, including working in confined areas and rotating shifts.
    • Maintain awareness of detention facility security procedures.
    • Recognize that verbal abuse or confrontational behavior may occur and respond professionally and appropriately.
    • Assist with de-escalation of potentially disruptive situations.
    • Remain alert and capable of responding effectively in high-stress or emergency situations.

Qualifications

  • Current, unrestricted Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) license in the state of practice.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of LVN experience; correctional, detention, emergency, or acute care experience strongly preferred.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Must be up to date with immunizations.
  • Ability to pass required background investigation, credentialing, and security clearance for ICE detention facilities.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and on-call assignments.

  • Physical demands include standing, walking, bending, lifting, and responding rapidly to emergencies.

LTS shares salary ranges to promote transparency. Compensation ranges are provided for informational purposes, and final compensation may vary based on experience, skills, location, and role requirements.
