LA28 is the independent, non-profit, privately funded organizing committee for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The United States Olympic and Paralympic Properties (USOPP) is the commercial joint venture between LA28 and the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC), charged with marketing and selling combined commercial assets, including rights to the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Teams (Team USA) and the LA28 Games. We are on a singular mission to create an Olympic and Paralympic Games that celebrate all that this city and country have to offer, delivering an unparalleled experience for athletes, fans, partners and our community.  

The 2028 Games mark the return of the Summer Games to the U.S. for the first time in 32 years and Los Angeles’ third time hosting an Olympic Games and first time welcoming the Paralympic Games. This presents the unique and exciting opportunity to celebrate our legacy with the Games and push the Olympic and Paralympic Movements forward, writing a new chapter of Games history in Los Angeles.

Manager, Partnership Marketing:

The Manager, Partnership Marketing will manage day-to-day engagement with our Commercial Partners (Sponsors) across the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Movements. Additionally, they will be responsible for working closely with the Partnership Marketing team to help design and drive marketing strategies and initiatives that further the business goals of our Partner Family. The ideal candidate will have prior partnership management experience with a wide range of marketing functions, including communications, advertising, branding, digital marketing, experiential and social media. The incumbent must be organized and adept at multitasking; able to handle a wide range of projects at once and meet tight deadlines.  

Working in our Los Angeles office, this individual will collaborate with our sales, communications, athlete, social impact, creative strategy and design teams, among other departments, to help drive the overall success of Team USA and the LA28 Games. The Manager, Partnership Marketing will report to the Director, Partnership Marketing. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary Account Manager leading the day-to-day relationship and needs of multiple commercial partner teams including brand leads, agencies, and marketing units  
  • Manage ongoing client engagement through meetings, conference calls, and written correspondence 
  • Drive all contractual deliverables and activation for clients/brands, coordinating with Partnership Marketing leadership and internal cross-functional departments to properly plan and ensure successful delivery for clients/brands 
  • Support delivery and execution of Partner Games-time contractual obligations and additional needs  
  • Help ensure all commercial partnership efforts serve to achieve immediate and long-term business goals and track against key KPIs 
  • Support facilitation of partners’ product integration supply rights, Value in Kind (VIK) obligations, and opportunities between Partner, LA28, and the USOPC 
  • Partner with the functional area experts within the organizing committee (e.g. Games Operations, Impact, Finance, IT, HR, etc.) to get a deep understanding of budgets and operational needs 
  • Support the Rights Approval Associate with partner creative and approvals via the IOC’s Track system 
  • Work with additional PM staff to lead projects as well as create presentations, tracking documents and other work product as needed 
  • Liaise with key peers/functional units at IOC, IPC, USOPC, and NGB (National Governing Bodies)

Background & Requirements:

  • 5+ years of direct experience in sports business or related marketing environment  
  • Hands on experience developing and leading relationships with strategic partners 
  • Strong operational and program execution skills required 
  • A team player who proactively communicates with other business partners and stakeholders within other organizations to drive results 
  • Strong cross-functional skills, and a capacity for creativity/innovation 
  • Excellent presentation preparation skills and ability to work successfully with varied audiences (colleagues, business partners, collaborators, and senior members of the organization)   
  • Knowledge and first-hand experience within the sports marketing industry. Experience in the Olympic or Paralympic Movements is a plus. 
  • Self-directed/self-starter individual with excellent organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining a long-term, strategic lens 
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and to tight deadlines 
  • Clear communicator with attention to detail   
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to work collaboratively with individuals at all levels in the organization 
  • Solution-oriented mindset with the desire to find win-win opportunities with our partners 
  • Commitment to understanding industry trends

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in sports marketing, marketing, advertising, communications or related field of study, or equivalent work experience 

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Ability to work on-site in an office environment, based in Los Angeles, CA  
  • The majority of work will be conducted in an office setting, requiring extended periods of time using computers, phones, and other office equipment. 
  • The role may require travel for events, partner meetings, conferences, both domestically and internationally. 
  • Work hours may vary, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, especially during peak event periods and 2028 Games Time. 

The annual base salary range for this position is $88,000-$105,000. The pay scale provided is the range that LA28 reasonably expects to pay as starting base compensation for this role. All LA28 compensation remains subject to final determination based on individual candidate qualifications, experience, or other reasonable criteria consistent with LA28’s operational business needs and applicable law.

LA28 is a non-profit public benefit corporation. The specific purpose of the organization is to improve and enhance the quality of life of the residents of the City of Los Angeles, California and the surrounding metropolitan area through the hosting of the Games of the XXIV Olympiad and the XVIII Paralympic Games in Los Angeles. Its core activities include: (i) planning, organization, financing, promotion, sponsorship, hosting and staging the Games, (ii) raising funds to be used to plan, organize, finance, promote, sponsor, host or stage the Games, and (iii) creating and implementing sustainability and legacy programs for the Games.
