Lucid Motors is seeking a highly accomplished and commercially minded  attorney to support the Sales, Marketing, and Financial Services team as Managing Counsel.  This is a front-line, high impact opportunity to partner directly with the business and to also play a central role in advancing the company’s growth and expansion strategy.As a front-line advisor to the business, the Managing Counsel will deliver fast, pragmatic, and solutions‑oriented legal guidance that enables business execution and accelerates entry into new and evolving markets. The ideal candidate is a high‑energy, results‑driven attorney who thrives in a fast‑paced, high‑velocity environment, understands the urgency of revenue‑generating initiatives, and is motivated by the opportunity to help shape the future of the business through close partnership with commercial teams.The person is flexible, willing, and able to take on work outside the aforementioned areas of expertise.This person will report to the Head of Legal Europe, is part of Lucid’s EU Legal team as well as Lucid’s global legal Team and will support Lucid Motors’ sales, service, marketing and financial services teams on a broad spectrum of legal issues in Europe. The attorney will collaborate with other members of the global legal team to support the growth of the company.  Position will be located in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
 
The Role:

  • Serve as a trusted legal advisor and business partner to Sales, Service, Marketing, and Financial Services teams, providing responsive, high-quality legal guidance that directly supports revenue generation and commercial execution.
  • Provide timely legal support for Lucid’s indirect distribution model, ensuring sales, marketing, and financial services teams receive fast, actionable guidance aligned with business timelines.
  • Advising on laws and regulations pertaining to automotive sales, service and vehicle financing, financial products, and related consumer protection requirements.
  • Support market entry and expansion initiatives in new and evolving markets.
  • Advising and supporting sales team on sales initiative and sale strategy as well as advising and supporting the service team.
  • Draft, review and negotiate all all customer-facing documentation and commercial agreements.
  • Review and oversee marketing and advertising collateral with a focus on speed-to-market and risk-calibrated advice.
  • Drafting and negotiating sponsorship, partnership, sweepstakes, and talent agreements.
  • Reviewing and overseeing marketing and advertising collateral with a focus on speed-to-market and risk-calibrated advice.
  • Provide counseling on trademark and copyright and brand protection matters.
  • Identify legal risks and opportunities and propose practical, business -minded and risk-calibrated solutions.
  • Maintain expanded knowledge of marketing laws/regulations, trends (incl. geo-political), and court-decisions impacting the electric vehicle industry in general but in Europe in particular.
  • Respond promptly to internal requests, clearly communicating legal risks while enabling informed and risk-calibrated business decisions.
  • Collaborate with members of the legal team on cross-functional initiatives and strategic projects or initiatives that may or may not be directly related the role.
  • The managing counsel is expected to perform the work in-house in principle, rather than engaging outside counsel.

Qualifications:

  • Ten or more years in legal practice including  in-house and global law firm experience specifically related to consumer marketing.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of automotive sales & marketing, consumer protection, financial products, and e-commerce laws as well as industry trends and new laws that will impact the company in Europe.
  • Demonstrated ability to support fast-moving commercial teams with urgency and precision.
  • Experience with marketing technology, brand partnerships, trademarks, social media and influencers, promotions, sweepstakes, and privacy preferred.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple complex matters under tight deadlines.
  • Strong commercial judgment, strategic thinking, and a bias toward action.
  • Ability and willingness to work extended hours as needed (also taking into account the different time zones in which the global legal team operates) to meet critical business demands.
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and develop strong working relationships while maintaining adherence to legal standards.
  • Sound business judgment, strategic thinking, and decision-making.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving business and legal environment.
  • Flexibility and interest in working on an array of legal matters in order to understand and advise the company on legal implications of its business strategy.
  • Fluency in English, both verbal and written, is required; German and Dutch are considered a plus.
