SUMMARY

Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment seeks a highly professional and organized Payroll Manager with solid experience overseeing accurate and timely processing of hourly payroll as the primary focus, with salary payroll and maintenance activities as a secondary responsibility. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of payroll regulations and practices, excellent analytical and communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.

Under general direction, this role is responsible for preparing hourly payroll, supporting occasional salary payroll, and completing payroll reporting and auditing on a semi‑monthly basis. This position reports to the Senior Payroll Manager.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Payroll Processing & Administration

  • Manage payroll for salaried pay groups.
  • Process payroll on a semi‑monthly schedule across multiple pay groups and FEINs.
  • Run per diem payroll as needed.
  • Review and update direct deposit information for active employees and new hires.
  • Maintain the payroll schedule for the company and within UKG.
  • Work directly with the payroll vendor on system‑related issues and enhancements.
  • Verify payroll accuracy and ensure compliance with accounting principles and labor regulations.
  • Prepare General Ledger files each pay period for semi‑monthly payroll groups.
  • Maintain paystub and authorization listings for Players.

Compliance, Tax, & Audit Support

  • Track and block applicable taxes for hourly VISA employees.
  • Update and maintain garnishment records for all employees.
  • Participate in payroll auditing projects to ensure compliance.
  • Support finance reporting requests, including assisting with year‑end audits.

Cross‑Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with HR on payroll matters including new hires, terminations, compensation changes, benefits updates, and maintaining employee data integrity.

Employee Service & Special Projects

  • Provide exceptional customer service by addressing employee payroll inquiries and delivering timely, accurate information.
  • Complete special projects as needed.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 5–7+ years of payroll processing experience required.
  • Direct experience with payroll processing software; UltiPro/UKG preferred.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with strong numerical and financial data capabilities.
  • Strong analytical mindset and ability to translate business questions into payroll/HR reporting.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.

COMPENSATION

  • $73,000 - $100,000

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Works primarily in an office environment and may be expected to contribute additional hours to meet payroll deadlines or support system implementations.
