Role Purpose & Contribution:

We are seeking an experienced People Business Partner to join our East Coast operations on a 9-month parental leave cover contract, commencing in May 2026

The People Business Partner (PBP), Western Australia plays a critical role in shaping and executing the people strategy across the region. This position provides expert leadership in Employee Relations (ER) and Industrial Relations (IR), including application of Enterprise Agreements and modern awards, while strengthening leadership capability and organisational performance.

Partnering closely with site and functional leaders, the PBP ensures consistent application of Bradken’s Just Framework and Respect at Workplace Standard, supporting a culture grounded in safety, accountability, inclusion, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

HR Business Partnering:

Partner with leaders to design and embed people initiatives aligned with Bradken’s strategy

  • Provide expert ER/IR advice, including interpretation and application of Enterprise Agreements, modern awards, and relevant legislation
  • Support and participate in Enterprise Agreement negotiations as required
  • Lead or oversee workplace investigations in line with the Just Framework and Respect at Workplace Standard
  • Advise leaders on complex matters including grievances, disciplinary actions, terminations, and performance management
  • Deliver coaching and targeted capability development to strengthen leadership effectiveness
  • Lead key annual people processes including performance reviews, engagement surveys, succession planning, and talent development
  • Analyse workforce, engagement, and performance data to identify trends and provide evidence-based recommendations

Work Planning & Governance:

Establish structured engagement routines with site leaders to review workforce metrics and progress against people plans

  • Develop and implement regional People & Culture work plans aligned to business priorities
  • Ensure legislative compliance and consistent policy application across sites

Culture & Organisational Effectiveness:

  • Champion Bradken’s Values and foster a respectful, inclusive, and performance-oriented workplace
  • Partner with the broader People & Culture team to support site-level change initiatives
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of HR systems, governance frameworks, and processes

Key Technical Criteria:

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Business Management, Psychology, Applied Science, or related discipline

Experience

  • Proven experience as a People/HR Business Partner or senior HR practitioner within Australia, ideally supporting multiple operational sites
  • Strong capability managing complex ER matters including investigations, grievances, and disciplinary processes
  • Experience in Enterprise Agreement negotiation and modern award interpretation
  • Sound knowledge of Australian employment legislation including the Fair Work Act, WHS, anti-discrimination laws, and psychosocial hazard frameworks
  • Experience collaborating with unions, employee representatives, and external legal/IR advisors
  • Practical experience identifying and managing psychosocial risks within operational environments

Technical & Professional Capability

  • Advanced Employee & Industrial Relations expertise with the ability to lead and advise on complex cases
  • Experience leading organisational change and embedding new ways of working
  • Strong capability in analysing HR data and translating insights into practical business actions
  • Ability to influence, coach, and partner with leaders at multiple organisational levels
  • High level of professional judgement, discretion, and risk awareness

This position is based in Brisbane, Australia, and operates under a hybrid working model.
