About Us

Togetherwork is a $250M recurring revenue SaaS business with more than 33 software applications serving over 12 vertical markets. We exist to help communities, organizations, and businesses thrive by delivering purpose-built software that meets their unique needs.

Many of our products were built over time across distributed teams and evolving standards. As we invest in long-term product quality, we are modernizing our applications to create clearer, more accessible, and more scalable user experiences.

With our headquarters on South Congress in Austin, TX, Togetherwork is entering a major hiring phase—building in-house product and engineering teams, strengthening collaboration, and defining how we design going forward. We value accountability, clarity, and thoughtful execution—and we expect our teams to raise the bar every day.

About This Role

We’re looking for an associate product designer who is eager to learn while taking ownership of well-defined product areas. You are curious, detail-oriented, and motivated to improve complex software experiences. You ask thoughtful questions, seek feedback, and care deeply about usability, clarity, and accessibility. You will support modernization efforts across the Togetherwork portfolio, collaborate closely with Product and Engineering, and contribute to shared design standards as you continue developing your craft. You’ll operate in an environment where teams are being built, processes are maturing, and standards are still evolving. You’ll gain exposure to systems thinking, scalable UX practices, and AI-enabled workflows as part of your growth.

What You’ll Do

Product & Customer-Centered Modernization

  • Own UX for defined features or product areas within the Togetherwork portfolio.
  • Improve clarity, usability, and accessibility across legacy workflows.
  • Identify friction through behavioral analytics (e.g., Pendo), qualitative feedback, and usability insights.
  • Translate user needs and product strategy into clear user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs.
  • Participate in modernization efforts that reduce complexity and improve structural interaction patterns.

Sprint Readiness & Delivery Enablement

  • Collaborate closely with Product Managers and Engineers from discovery through delivery.
  • Prepare clear, well-defined design artifacts and documentation ahead of sprint execution.
  • Ensure designs are practical, scalable, and maintainable within engineering constraints.
  • Iterate based on structured feedback from senior designers and cross-functional partners.

Design Systems & Consistency

  • Contribute to and maintain shared design system components.
  • Apply established interaction patterns and reusable components correctly across products.
  • Help reduce UI inconsistency while balancing product-specific needs with broader portfolio coherence.
  • Refine components and patterns as needed in collaboration with other designers.

Modern Design Practice & AI-Enabled Workflows

  • Use AI-assisted tools to accelerate research, exploration, and iteration.
  • Experiment thoughtfully with generative UI tools, rapid prototyping workflows, and automation to improve personal and team velocity.
  • Participate in design critiques and collaborative problem framing sessions.
  • Contribute to raising the design bar through evidence-based decision-making.

A Collaborative Partner to Product and Engineering

  • You are eager to understand implementation realities and design solutions that are practical, feasible, and maintainable. You value feedback and learn quickly through collaboration.

Systems-Aware

  • You understand the importance of consistency and follow established patterns within the shared design system. You look for opportunities to reduce UI inconsistency, improve clarity, and strengthen scalable interaction patterns.

AI-Enabled Learner

  • You are curious about AI tools and experiment with them to accelerate research, ideation, and prototyping. You are comfortable incorporating modern tools into your workflow as part of your growth as a designer.

Accessibility-Minded

  • You understand core usability principles and WCAG accessibility standards, and you are motivated to improve clarity, inclusivity, and usability in your work.

What You’ll Bring

Experience

  • 3–5 years of product design experience (SaaS or complex workflow-driven software preferred).
  • Experience shipping features within agile product teams.
  • Experience working in ambiguous or evolving environments.

Portfolio Requirements

  • Clear articulation of the problem, constraints, and user needs
  • Evidence of iteration based on feedback and usability insights
  • Thoughtful application of usability and accessibility principles
  • Examples of using AI tools in your process (even at an exploratory level)

Why This Role Matters

  • Impact: Help modernize complex software experiences used across diverse vertical markets.
  • Execution: Translate modernization strategy into scalable, maintainable design work.
  • Growth: Develop systems thinking and scalable UX practices within a growing SaaS portfolio.
  • Collaboration: Work deeply with Product and Engineering to improve real workflows.
  • Quality: Contribute to establishing how design operates across Togetherwork going forward.
