Michels Canada is seeking a Project Controls Manager to join our Canadian Corporate Head Office in Nisku, AB. In this role, you will oversee the planning, scheduling, and cost control for major projects, including cost estimation and analysis, schedule development and monitoring, and the preparation of accurate cost forecasts. The Project Controls Manager provides strategic guidance to address cost and scheduling challenges and is accountable for managing the overall Project Controls plan.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement Project Controls programs on assigned projects in alignment with Michels Canada’s standards and guidelines.
  • Review, validate, and approve Earned Revenue Determination data, Proposal Financial Summaries, and project working capital calculations for assigned projects or programs.
  • Prepare, coordinate, and deliver Project Controls presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Plan and manage staffing requirements for assigned projects.
  • Support the development, coaching, and training of Project Controls team members.
  • Implement and maintain project control systems to meet project requirements, providing accurate progress and performance reporting.
  • Lead Project Controls initiatives, including the development of schedules, managing change, cost and trend analysis, planning, and addressing claims.
  • Ensure consistent application of Project Controls standards and practices across all Michels Canada projects.
  • Lead by example to maintain and promote Michels Canada's culture and core values by complying with Michels Canada Standards and Policies. Lead team members by fostering constructive and effective professional connections, establishing trust, and giving/receiving candid and fair feedback, and demonstrating competence and character, inspiring confidence in those you work with.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 10- years of project controls experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least 3 years of people management experience leading project controls, cost, or scheduling teams.
  • Strong knowledge of cost control, scheduling, forecasting, and reporting for EPC or large-scale construction projects.
  • Proficiency with project tracking software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience working with ERP systems and scheduling tools such as Primavera P6, Viewpoint, or Tilos.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and analytical skills, with the ability to perform in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites as required.
