Who: HealtheConnections, a respected leader in health information exchange (HIE), is a nonprofit organization delivering services and support to thousands of health professionals across NYS.
What: Hiring a new team member who is a detail-oriented and technically strong Quality Assurance Analyst or Engineer to ensure the quality, reliability, and performance of our AWS-based cloud platforms, with some exposure to Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services.
Why: More than 1,600 health and care organizations such as hospitals, physician practices, labs, public health departments, and more rely on our services and applications to be intuitive, comprehensive, and most importantly, help them deliver better care to the patients they serve.
This role will focus on validating cloud-native applications, APIs, integrations, and infrastructure that support scalable, secure, and highly available systems, while actively participating in requirements definition and validation.
Responsibilities Include:
Requirements gathering, refinement, and review
- Meet with business stakeholders, product owners, and engineering teams to understand functional and non-functional requirements
- Translate business and technical requirements into test strategies, test plans, and acceptance criteria
- Review requirements and designs early to identify gaps, risks, ambiguities, and testability concerns
Testing and validation across tools, systems, and teams
- Design, develop, and execute manual and automated test cases for cloud-based applications hosted primarily on AWS, with limited components in GCP
- Validate APIs, microservices, and event-driven integrations across distributed cloud environments
- Perform functional, regression, integration, smoke, and performance testing
- Validate AWS infrastructure configurations, including environments, deployments, scaling, and failover scenarios
- Support testing of GCP-hosted services or data pipelines as needed
- Perform security and compliance testing related to authentication, authorization, encryption, and logging
Enhance quality approaches and collaborate across teams
- Work closely with Product, Engineering, and DevOps teams throughout the SDLC to promote a shift-left quality approach
- Identify, document, track, and verify defects using standard defect management tools
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines supporting AWS deployments
- Support release readiness, post-release validation, and production monitoring
Experience Needed:
- 3+ years of experience in Quality Assurance or Software Testing
- Demonstrated experience participating in requirements analysis and stakeholder discussions
- Hands-on experience testing cloud-based applications on AWS
- Strong understanding of API testing (REST, JSON, HTTP status codes)
- Experience with test automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, Postman, REST Assured)
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, etc.)
- Understanding of microservices and distributed systems
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams
- Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure to GCP services (e.g., Cloud Storage, BigQuery, Pub/Sub, Cloud Functions)
- Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes / EKS)
- Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation)
- Experience with performance testing tools (JMeter, k6, Gatling)
- Familiarity with security, compliance, or regulated environments (SOC 2, HIPAA, ISO)

$65,000-$95,000 is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee’s pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, the prevailing minimum wage for the location, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, and seniority.
