We’re searching for a Hardware Systems Quality Engineer. The primary objective of this role is to ensure quality in manufacturing, supply chain, and vehicle integration in support of the development and production of the Aurora Driver.  A successful candidate is data-driven, excels at complex problem solving, has a strong quality and product focused mindset, and can lead cross-functional teams to identify and eliminate systemic problems, issues and risks.

In this role you will

  • Lead, develop, and support test and inspection plan creation in accordance with required specifications.
  • Perform tests and inspections according to Quality plans and procedures to record & analyze data, document and report results.
  • Create and maintain documentation and records of test operations.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and perform general root cause analysis for software and hardware faults and defects. 
  • Perform cable and harness assembly testing and troubleshooting.
  • Operate inspection and test fixtures or equipment, with ability to train others as required.
  • Support the activities related to non-conforming product(s) and returned material authorization activities (Material Review Board).
  • Participate in audit and manufacturing process audit activities.
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement activities.

Required qualifications

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in quality, autonomous vehicle manufacturing, electro-mechanical assembly operations, robotics or equivalent field experience.
  • Experience with programming and scripting (C++, Python or equivalent).
  • Experience debugging complex electronic assemblies and/or manufacturing cable assemblies.
  • Ability to understand electrical and mechanical drawings.
  • Strong attention to detail, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.

Desirable qualifications

  • IPC 610 and IPC 620 certification(s).
  • Experience working with autonomous vehicles.
  • Experience with GitHub.
  • Experience with automotive manufacturing and quality specifications.
  • Ability to travel to company locations in the continental U.S.

The base salary range for this position is $112,000-$180,000 per year. Aurora’s pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, the successful candidate’s starting base pay will be determined based on factors including job-related skills, experience, qualifications, relevant education or training, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future. The successful candidate will also be eligible for an annual bonus, equity compensation, and benefits.
