Overview:
The Sr. Accountant is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the general ledger by ensuring accurate and timely recording of financial transactions. This role plays a critical part in month-end close processes, financial reporting, and compliance with accounting standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, prepaids, and reclassifications.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and resolve discrepancies.
- Assist in month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts and resolve discrepancies.
- Prepare monthly and other ad hoc schedules as needed by the finance team.
- Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and explanations.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies.
- Collaborate with other departments to gather financial data and improve reporting accuracy.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
Job Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
- 5-7 years of experience in general ledger accounting or similar role.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) and Excel.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational and communication abilities.
- CPA certification a plus.
- Experience with ERP systems and automated reconciliation tools.
- Knowledge of SOX compliance and internal controls.
