Senior Backend Engineer, Active Journey

About the role: What's in the Box

The service provider will contribute to the Active Journey Alliance, whose mission is to maximize the retention of active customers by helping them build habits, manage subscriptions, and navigate their ordering experience seamlessly. As an external expert, you will provide specialized services in developing and maintaining high-availability backend systems that serve millions of global users, ensuring a robust technical foundation for customer-facing features and error-resolution workflows.

What you’ll do: The Recipe

• Deliver end-to-end services including the architecture, design, development, and deployment of microservices within a DevOps-oriented framework.
• Provide technical contributions within autonomous, cross-functional agile units, collaborating with primary stakeholders such as Product Owners, Designers, and BI specialists.
• Ensure operational excellence for delivered services through modern methodologies, including pair programming and automated testing.
• Execute technical solutions using a state-of-the-art stack including Golang, Kafka, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Act as a subject matter expert on software solutions, providing technical guidance and knowledge sharing to other contributors.

What you’ll bring: The Ingredients

• Extensive experience in backend service delivery, specifically focusing on microservices and distributed systems.
• Proven proficiency in building event-driven architectures utilizing technologies like RabbitMQ, Kafka, or AWS SQS/SNS.
• High proficiency in Golang is preferred; experience with JVM languages and a readiness to provide services in a Go-centric environment is welcome.
• Practical expertise with Docker, container orchestration via Kubernetes, and the implementation of CI/CD pipelines.
• A rigorous approach to testing practices, encompassing both unit and end-to-end validation.
• Deep technical understanding of relational databases; additional experience with MongoDB, GraphQL, or Elasticsearch is highly regarded.
