The Role

We are hiring a Data Engineer to build the data backbone of Beacon.

Our vision is to create a unified technical foundation and single pane of glass that ingests data from across our portfolio to generate real-time insights and actionable items for our operators of all disciplines.

A core mandate of this role is to design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines from our portfolio companies into a centralized Beacon Data Warehouse. This data will allow our teams to gain insight, perform analysis, and drive product decisions that will elevate how we operate our portfolio companies.

You will help transform fragmented operational data into a clean, unified, analytics-ready foundation that drives real-time decision-making and AI automation across the portfolio.

What You’ll Do

Build Portfolio-Wide Data Infrastructure

Design and implement robust ETL pipelines from portfolio company systems into the Beacon Data Warehouse
Work with our Platform team to standardize schemas across heterogeneous vertical SaaS products
Build ingestion frameworks that scale as we grow our portfolio of companies
Ensure reliability, observability, and data quality across all pipelines

Create unified data models that enable cross-portfolio insights
Partner with product and engineering to make data programmatically accessible

Data Governance & Quality

Implement data validation, testing, and monitoring frameworks
Establish documentation and data lineage standards
Create scalable access controls and security practices
Ensure compliance and auditability across systems

Be a Systems Thinker

Design for long-term leverage, not short-term patching
Make principled architectural decisions as we move toward a shared technical foundation
Help define how data becomes a durable competitive advantage

What Great Looks Like

Portfolio companies onboard into the warehouse in weeks, not months
Leadership can see standardized metrics across all businesses in one view
AI agents have clean, structured, trustworthy data to act on
Data models are extensible and support future acquisitions

What We’re Looking For

Required

4+ years building production-grade data pipelines
Strong experience with modern data stacks
Deep SQL expertise
Experience integrating APIs and ingesting data from SaaS platforms
Experience designing scalable, well-modeled warehouses
Strong data quality and observability practices

Preferred

Experience in multi-entity or multi-tenant data environments
Background at high-growth startups or experience as a founder (we value high agency)
Experience with event-driven architectures and streaming systems
Experience supporting ML or AI systems with production data
