Role Purpose
Why this role matters: As a Senior Database Administrator (Senior DBA), you will play a key role in architecting, managing, and optimizing database systems to ensure high availability, performance, and security. Your contributions will help shape our data infrastructure strategy and operational best practices, ultimately transforming how we support data-driven applications and services.

- Design and implement scalable, secure, and resilient database solutions.
- Optimize performance and reliability of production databases across multiple environments.
- Automate database maintenance tasks to reduce operational overhead and improve system uptime.

Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Lead the design and implementation of robust database architectures, ensuring performance and scalability.
- Collaborate with development and infrastructure teams, driving database design best practices and efficient query development.
- Manage production databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle), ensuring uptime, backup, and disaster recovery.
- Automate routine tasks including provisioning, patching, and replication.
- Optimize SQL queries and database configurations for maximum efficiency.
- Monitor database performance, storage, and usage trends using industry-standard tools.
- Enforce data security policies and compliance requirements.
- Develop and maintain documentation and database runbooks.
- Engage with stakeholders to align database strategy with business and application needs.
Qualifications & Attributes
We’re seeking someone who embodies the following:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
Experience: 5+ years in database administration with experience in high-availability, large-scale environments.
Technical Skills:
Must-haves:
- Expertise with at least one major RDBMS (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle).
- Strong SQL skills and experience with performance tuning and query optimization.
- Proficiency in database backup/recovery, replication, and clustering techniques.
- Experience with automation and scripting tools (e.g., Bash, Python, PowerShell).
- Familiarity with cloud-based database services (e.g., Amazon RDS, Azure SQL, Google Cloud SQL).
- Knowledge of database monitoring tools and techniques.
Nice-to-haves:
- Experience with NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Redis).
- Familiarity with CI/CD integration for database deployments.
- Exposure to DevOps methodologies and infrastructure-as-code practices.
Unique Attributes:

- Possesses strong analytical thinking and the ability to solve complex database issues under pressure.
