onsitefull-timesenior level

About this role

At Lyft, our purpose is to serve and connect. We aim to achieve this by cultivating a work environment where all team members belong and have the opportunity to thrive.

We're looking for a strategic content leader who can elevate Lyft's storytelling across every medium and platform. This role goes beyond traditional blog management to orchestrate multi-channel narratives that bring our brand to life through video, design, data visualization, and long-form and short-form content. As part of this work, you'll also support the social presence of Lyft's senior executives, translating brand narratives into compelling thought leadership that amplifies our story through the people who lead the company. You'll lead our content excellence program, developing strategies that ensure Lyft's stories break through in an increasingly crowded landscape. This is an in-person role based in our San Francisco headquarters, requiring daily collaboration across Lyft's most strategic communications initiatives and real-time alignment with cross-functional partners.

This role offers significant leadership development potential. As lead, you'll own strategy, coordinate execution, and manage cross-functional relationships - building the program management and strategic thinking skills essential for senior leadership. You'll be positioned at the intersection of Lyft's most critical communications moments, gaining executive visibility and shaping how the company tells its story during pivotal business cycles. Success in this role positions you to potentially scale and lead a formal content team as we scale.

You'll work closely with:

  • Writers, videographers, and designers to produce content
  • Analytics team to measure content performance and ROI
  • Social and marketing teams to ensure integrated storytelling
  • Product marketing to align content with product priorities
  • Executive communications to support leadership visibility
  • Brand leadership and cross-functional strategy partners across the organization

This is an opportunity to reshape how we approach content - moving from tactical execution to strategic storytelling that drives business impact.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead Multi-Medium Storytelling: Coordinate content strategy across our blog, video production, design, data visualization, and short- and long-form narratives to create cohesive brand stories. Shape narrative strategy in real-time as business priorities evolve across major initiatives like planning, product launches, and executive visibility.
  • Own Content Strategy & Distribution: Develop and execute owned channel strategies that maximize reach and engagement across all Lyft platforms.
  • Drive Content Innovation: Push beyond traditional formats to explore new ways of telling Lyft's story - from interactive data experiences to documentary-style video series.
  • Executive Social Media Content Creation: As approximately 25% of this role, support the social media presence of Lyft's senior executives, including the CEO, with LinkedIn and X as flagship platforms. Monitor for trends, ideate and develop content, including filming and editing short-form videos, among other ideas.
  • Manage Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with social, executive communications, growth marketing, internal comms, and product marketing to ensure content supports broader business objectives. Serve as embedded strategic partner in Lyft's communications team, enabling rapid iteration and real-time decision-making with stakeholders.
  • Measure & Optimize Performance: Work with analytics partners to establish KPIs and continuously improve content effectiveness (SEO/AEO, engagement, conversion) and drive impact against communications, marketing, and company objectives.
  • Coordinate Creative Resources: Manage relationships with videographers, designers, writers, and other content creators to deliver high-quality outputs on deadline. Champion editorial decisions and coordinate complex creative workflows that require in-person presence and constant stakeholder alignment.
  • Build Content Operations: Establish workflows, editorial calendars, and governance processes that enable scalable content production.

Experience:

  • 7-10 years of content strategy and editorial experience, with demonstrated success across multiple content formats.
  • Proven ability to think beyond the blog - experience with video, multimedia, and emerging content formats.
  • Experience with social media content creation for an executive or individual, particularly on LinkedIn and X.
  • Strong program management skills with ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders and creative resources.
  • Data-driven mindset with experience using analytics to inform content strategy.
  • Excellence in storytelling with ability to identify and develop compelling narratives.
  • Experience managing content operations and editorial workflows at scale.
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in fast-paced, collaborative environments requiring real-time stakeholder management and strategic agility.

  • Great medical, dental, and vision insurance options with additional programs available when enrolled
  • Mental health benefits
  • Family building benefits
  • Child care and pet benefits
  • 401(k) plan to help save for your future
