Software Engineering Manager - CD

Harness · Bengaluru, Karnataka, India

onsitefull-timemid level

About this role

Harness is the AI Software Delivery Platform company, led by technologist and entrepreneur Jyoti Bansal (founder of AppDynamics, acquired by Cisco for $3.7B). Harness has raised approximately $570M in funding and is valued at $5.5B, backed by leading investors including Goldman Sachs, Menlo Ventures, IVP, Unusual Ventures, Citi Ventures, and more. As AI accelerates code creation, the real bottleneck has shifted to everything after the code – testing, deployments, application security, reliability, compliance, and cost optimization. Harness brings AI and automation to this “outer loop,” helping teams ship software faster while maintaining security and governance throughout the entire software delivery lifecycle.

Powered by Harness AI and the Software Delivery Knowledge Graph, the Harness Platform applies deep context and intelligent automation across the software delivery lifecycle with governance and policy-driven controls embedded throughout the platform.

Over the past year, Harness powered over 185M deployments, 82M builds, 18T flag evaluations, 8M security scans, 9.1B optimized tests, 3T protected API calls, and helped manage $2.8B in cloud spend — enabling customers like United Airlines, Morningstar, and Choice Hotels to accelerate releases by up to 75%, reduce cloud costs by up to 60%, and achieve 10x DevOps efficiency.

With a global team across 14 offices and 25 countries, Harness is shaping the future of AI software delivery — and we’re looking for exceptional talent to help us move even faster.

Harness is seeking a dynamic Engineering Manager to lead the charge in building the next generation of innovations in Continuous Delivery (CD). This isn’t just another leadership role—it’s a unique opportunity to design and deliver impactful features that delight customers, drive ARR growth, and strengthen our leadership in the DevOps space.

In this role, you’ll guide a distributed engineering team spanning multiple geographies, developing new capabilities on top of our platform. You’ll collaborate closely with customers to address escalations, refine feature requirements, and make strategic product decisions that shape the evolution of our CD offering.

We’re looking for a leader who’s not only strong in backend technologies (Java, Go) but also enjoys staying hands-on with code. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, startup-like environment, embraces ambiguity, and consistently transforms complex challenges into measurable impact.

If you bring energy, innovation, and a passion for delivering exceptional customer experiences, this is your chance to redefine how enterprises deploy software—and leave your mark on the future of DevOps.

About the role

  • Harness is a market leader in DevOps, constantly innovating to deliver cutting-edge features and expand into new deployment areas. • You’ll collaborate with exceptional engineers and architects, driving key technology decisions that power the world-class features distinguishing our product from the competition.
  • As a technical leader, you’ll champion code quality, performance, and best practices—ensuring that every line of code is robust, scalable, and production-ready. Beyond execution, you’ll shape and evolve our technical vision, define forward-looking roadmaps, and inspire your team to innovate and push boundaries.

This role isn’t just about managing a team—it’s about building a world-class product that strengthens our position as a leader in the DevOps market.

About you

  • Proven Leader: 3+ years leading high-performing engineering teams, balancing technical depth with people leadership.
  • Builder’s Mindset: 5+ years building SaaS applications in backend (Java/Go) roles, with a passion for hands-on architecture and coding.
  • Organization Builder: A track record of assembling and scaling world-class engineering orgs.
  • Global Collaborator: Comfortable leading teams and working with customers across time zones.
  • Customer-Obsessed: You’ve directly influenced customer satisfaction and know what it takes to deliver mission-critical, customer-facing software.
  • Performance-Driven: Skilled in building multi-tenant SAAS platforms that deliver seamless user experiences.
  • Battle-Tested: Strong command of managing production incidents and leading effective on-call rotations.
  • Strong knowledge of monitoring, alerting, logging and Performance optimisation in large-scale systems.
  • Hands-on experience in various Cloud Platforms or Kubernetes is highly desirable
  • Technically Grounded: BS in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
