The Fort Worth Water Department delivers essential services on a major scale. We operate five advanced water treatment facilities capable of producing more than 420 million gallons of clean water each day, a state-of-the-art wastewater treatment plant handling over 160 million gallons daily, and an extensive network of pump stations, lift stations, and meter stations that keep our city flowing. We’re looking for a Sr. Engineering Technician to join our Strategic Operations Division – Water/Wastewater Facility Planning and Asset Management Team.

As a Sr. Engineering Technician, you’ll be at the center of how we visualize, analyze, and manage Fort Worth’s water and wastewater infrastructure. You’ll create and maintain GIS maps, dashboards, and documentation that drive smarter decisions across our operations. This role supports the department’s Asset Management Lead and works closely with engineers, planners, and IT professionals to ensure accurate data integration and asset tracking — helping keep Fort Worth’s water systems efficient, reliable, and resilient.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree in Engineering, Architecture or related field
  • Five (5) years of progressively responsible technical experience working with ArcGIS Enterprise and ArcGIS Pro
  • Valid Texas Driver's License

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency with Advanced Excel
  • Experience or interest in learning to use BIM (3D), Revit, or AutoCAD to support facility design and planning
  • Familiarity or interest in Maximo, Digital Twin technologies, or other asset management tools
  • Experience or interest in Power BI or other data visualization tools
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a high-performing, collaborative team

The Sr. Engineering Technician job responsibilities include:

  • Develop, edit, and maintain GIS data and maps using ESRI ArcGIS Enterprise and ArcGIS Pro
  • Support asset onboarding for new facilities and manage as-built documentation
  • Create dashboards and reports in Maximo, Power BI, or Looker to support data-driven planning
  • Help streamline processes, improve data accuracy, and contribute to lifecycle planning for critical infrastructure
  • Collaborate with Water IT, Plant Operations, and Engineering staff to drive continuous improvement
