Technical Trainer & Skills Coach

Location: Reading (with occasional UK travel)
Salary: £45,000 – £55,000 + excellent benefits

MCFT are a leading employer-provider of apprenticeships in commercial catering and refrigeration engineering. As our Technical Academy continues to grow, we are looking for an experienced Technical Trainer & Skills Coach to join the team.

We welcome candidates from electrical, commercial catering gas and refrigeration backgrounds, with a strong track record in delivering technical training and supporting apprentices.

The Role

Based at our new training centre in Reading, you will deliver technical training aligned to our apprenticeship programmes, alongside conducting learner progress reviews and supporting apprentices through to gateway and End Point Assessment.

You’ll play a key role in ensuring high-quality delivery, maintaining learner progress, and supporting the ongoing development of our academy provision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver technical theory and practical training (aligned to your specialism)
  • Conduct initial assessments and quarterly progress reviews
  • Support learners towards EPA and professional qualifications
  • Maintain learner records, trackers and registers in line with requirements
  • Ensure delivery meets Ofsted Good standards or above
  • Support continuous improvement within the academy

Essential Requirements

  • Level 3 (or equivalent) Teaching Qualification (e.g. AET/PTLLS or above)
  • Assessor Qualification (TAQA, A1/D1 or equivalent)
  • Strong preference for Internal Verification (IQA) qualification
  • Relevant industry qualifications in electrical, catering gas or refrigeration
  • Proven experience delivering training to adult learners
  • Experience supporting apprenticeships (standards or frameworks)

  • Confident delivering both classroom and practical training
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and people skills
