We’re looking for a research-first UX Researcher with 3–7 years of experience who has conducted hands-on research on generative AI systems and complex product workflows.
This role focuses on understanding how users collaborate with AI, including trust, mental models, workflow friction, prompt interaction, and model output behavior, and translating those insights into shipped product decisions.
This is not a hybrid design role. While you’ll collaborate closely with designers, your primary responsibility will be leading research that shapes product direction and AI interaction logic.
Plan and lead end-to-end generative and evaluative research across AI-powered creative tools and APIs
Investigate human–AI collaboration, including prompt interaction, model output interpretation, trust, and explainability to uncover user needs and pain points
Conduct research that informs AI interaction patterns and influences product and system behavior
Identify workflow friction within complex, technical environments (e.g., SaaS platforms, AI tools, enterprise systems)
Translate qualitative and quantitative findings into clear product recommendations tied to roadmap decisions
Communicate insights creatively through storytelling, visuals, and presentations that inspire cross-functional teams and influence strategic decisions
Partner closely with Product, Design, Data Science, and Engineering to embed research into decision-making and proactively identify research opportunities
Operate in ambiguous, fast-moving product environments where research direction is not always predefined
Evangelize research and elevate research literacy across cross-functional teams
3–7 years of hands-on UX research experience embedded in product teams
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a human-centered field (e.g., Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, Sociology, Anthropology) or equivalent practical experience
Demonstrated experience researching generative AI systems (e.g., LLM-powered tools, AI assistants, AI-driven creative tools)
Clear examples of influencing AI interaction logic, system behavior, or model-informed product decisions through research
Strong mixed-methods toolkit (interviews, usability testing, concept testing, diary studies, surveys, A/B interpretation)
Experience researching complex B2B or technical workflows (SaaS, creative tooling, developer tools, AI systems)
Ability to synthesize insights into compelling narratives for executive and cross-functional stakeholders
Comfort navigating ambiguity and shaping early-stage (0→1) research directions
Excellent written and verbal communication skills — you know how to get users talking and deliver compelling research presentations
Ability to regularly commute to our NYC office
