A Water IT Project Manager-Meter to Cash Systems job is available with the City of Fort Worth Water Department Management Services Division. 

In this role, you’ll be part of the Water IT team, which supports all technology used across the Fort Worth Water Utility, including systems that serve our customers directly.

As the Water IT Project Manager—Meter to Cash Systems, you will oversee a variety of technology projects that support the full meter‑to‑billing process. Projects may range in size and complexity, and you’ll be responsible for organizing and leading project teams, managing resources, and working closely with other project managers to keep initiatives moving forward.

This position also plays a key leadership role in guiding the technology team and ensuring that the systems supporting Meter to Cash business processes run effectively and continue to improve.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Business or a related field information technology field
  • Five (5) years of professional experience, with four years of increasingly responsible experience in the management of project teams

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with the technologies utilized by the Meter to Cash business processes in a water utility including billing, contact center, field support, etc
  • Experience leading technical teams responsible for implementing large water utility technology projects
  • Experience managing technology vendors and consultants
  • Experience in managing automated metering infrastructure

The Water IT Project Manager – Meter to Cash Systems job responsibilities include:

  • Lead and support a dedicated Meter to Cash technical team by setting priorities, guiding daily work, providing training, and fostering a positive, safe, and collaborative work environment. You’ll also play a key role in hiring, coaching, and developing staff
  • Oversee and coordinate the technical team working on the CIS Utility Billing System Replacement Project. You’ll help set direction, align schedules, and ensure our technical resources and consultants are equipped to successfully implement the new system
  • Work closely with stakeholders to understand and improve utility billing business processes. You’ll document system configurations, translate technical needs into clear communication, and stay current on emerging technologies to recommend innovative solutions
  • Develop detailed project work plans, define goals and scope, outline deliverables and milestones, select tools and approaches, and assign tasks to keep projects on track and aligned with business needs
  • Manage relationships with vendors, consultants, and contractor teams to ensure high-quality work, clear communication, and successful project outcomes
