A Water Systems Supervisor job is available with the City of Fort Worth Water Department, Plant Operations Division. This position will supervise, participate in and coordinate the work of employees responsible for diagnosing and repairing disabled machinery and mechanical equipment at the city’s water and wastewater treatment plants and facilities. He/she will coordinate assigned activities with other divisions, outside agencies and the general public and provide complex staff assistance to assigned management staff.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED
- Five (5) years of responsible experience in the repair, service, and maintenance of equipment and systems
- Valid Texas driver's license
Preferred Qualifications:
- Supervisory experience strongly preferred
- Water/wastewater plant or field environment
- Experience in large water and wastewater treatment plant maintenance and/or operations that include maintaining pumps, valves, filters, clarifiers, chemical systems, distributions and collections equipment, and other facilities critical to the optimization of the water and wastewater treatment process
- Proficient use of Microsoft Word and Excel applications and Asset Management Systems such as Maximo
- Experience in the administration of computer-based work order systems, such as Maximo or similar systems
- Possession of appropriate water/wastewater treatment and operation certification from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ)
The Water Systems Supervisor's job responsibilities include:
- Supervise, oversee and participate in day-to-day operations by prioritizing and assigning work orders, conducting performance evaluation, termination and disciplinary decisions
- Supervises, coordinates, and reviews the work of subordinate employees responsible for maintenance, repair, installation, and technical services for the potable water distribution, wastewater collection system, raw water, and reclaimed systems
- Participates in the requisition of materials and supplies, and compiles specifications for equipment and contracts
- Inspects the maintenance, installation and repair of collection and distribution system and equipment. Provides advice and assistance to maintenance staff as necessary
- Maintains, repairs, and operates stationary diesel or tri-fuel engines; maintains and operates electrical distribution systems and generator distribution stations as necessary
- Coordinates water/wastewater plant maintenance activities with those of other divisions and outside agencies and organizations; provide staff assistance to senior management personnel; prepares and presents staff reports and other necessary correspondence
- Maintains a variety of records and documentation of plant facilities and equipment including repairs, rehabilitations, equipment failures and preventative maintenance; prepares updates and status reports of project progression
- Performs other related duties as required
